Is Gliese 581g trying to 'communicate' with us?

Here's an interesting revelation following the announcement of Gliese 581g, a planet nearly 4 times that of Earth circling Gliese 581 in its 'Goldilocks Zone' nearly two weeks ago - a signal might have been received from its neighbourhood...

To be honest, it'd be great if were true. We could all go live there and get out of this particular basket case planet. Of course - that would assume two main points:

1. They'd have us
2. They don't have a parallel Bertie/Cowan/Molloy/Fingleton etc and are up the swanny themselves

But we can dream and hope nonetheless...

I get those light pulses all the time and usually run a hot pixel routine to get rid of them :laugh:

Goldilocks zone of a red dwarf? Can't remember but what is a stars lifespan as a red dwarf? Would a planet have time to evolve an intelligent race given that it spent most of the time in deep freeze prior to red dwarf stage?

the red dwarfis a cooler, smaller and fainter star than our Sun but considering that Gliese 581g orbits 0.16 AU away (in 37 days) it lies in that system's 'not too hot, not too cold' region for life to begin on the planet...

It's all relative. If we were 1 AU away from our Sun as if it were a red dwarf then yes, none of us would be here yet a thriving high pitched-voiced Metropolis might exist on Mercury instead.

hang on, dont red dwarf star have very long life spans?, some over twice the life of our sun?
and if its in that stars goldilocks zone, it means it has a similar temperature range to our own planet. The distance and size of the zone is dependent on the star in question.

so could there be some sort of life on that planet, possibly.... with alot of ifs....

If it was real, then it should be easily repeatable.
