Surely they should be called â€œEuronautsâ€

Russian: Cosmonaut

American: Astronaut.

European: Euronaut

Or in Irelandâ€™a case: â€œEironautsâ€.

Russian: Cosmonaut

American: Astronaut.

European: Euronaut

Or in Irelandâ€™a case: â€œEironautsâ€.

But that would mean they would be sailing Europe.
The word "naut" means Sailor.
The term spationaut is sometimes used by the French.

The Irish word is "Speir".

So an Irish space traveller is a "Speironaut".

Yeah.... but Speir means sky. You should really use RÃ©alt for star or SpÃ¡s for space. Hence

RÃ©altmairnealacht or spÃ¡smairnealacht.
