Astrobin versus Flickr was created by CarlightExpress
Hi All

Last night I discovered Astrobin, I always upload my images to Flickr, but since discovering Astrobin I feel it is greatly "Under-appreciated"

It has so many cool features such as assigning equipment from your profile to specific images, as well as image capture dates and what frames were captured on certain dates etc

Has anyone else used Astrobin? What do you think to it?

My profile is here: www.astrobin.com/users/CarlightExpress/

Yes I prefer Astrobin. I like that you can search by equipment used too.
You got some serious shots there. Should get 'photo of the day' sometime I reckon.

Here is my profile www.astrobin.com/users/derek0207/
The planetary photos there all used the LRGB filters I bought from you :-)

Just Followed You (Not Stalked) on Astrobin

I love the interface, the guy that put this together put a lot of thought into it

Hi guys,

I am also on Astrobin: www.astrobin.com/users/Kinch/

There are some really good features as you both mentioned. One thing I don't like (as mentioned in one of my other posts here) it tends to be a mutual admiration society - the same people passing 'Likes' back & forth regardless of whether they have good images up or not. It is better than it was but Image of day was sometimes a really rubbish shot.....but had gained many 'Likes' simply because the imager had lots of followers. It still goes on to some extent - but image of the day now has Site Admin input. This is what I was also proposing for the monthly competition here on IFAS site.
But - looking at the good points - it remains a good site for showing & seeing some great images.

Astrobin all the way. Never really liked flickr, for anything really and have not used it in a long time. The mutual admiration, you are going to get no matter where you post your image, be it here SGL or astrobin (its half the reason we post images ;)
Even though it has been online for some time now, it was quite slow to take off.
