Christmas Tree Cluster was created by ftodonoghue
Hi Folks. I will be covering Monoceros for the January podcast, but one of its clusters is best observed in December. Hidden within Monoceros is the Christmas Tree Cluster or NGC 2264. It will show its Xmas tree structure at low powers. The nebulosity surrounding it is much harder to see. At the tip of the tree you will find the cone nebula, (one for the imagers). Anyway enjoy and be sure to track it down and observe or image it. Use alpha and gamma orionis as pointers to find it.

Happy Xmas

Cheers
Trevor

what are the odds, I was only looking at that in a staratlas last night and thinking it was a very fitting name for it, given the time of the year :)
