Hello, conjunction lovers.

It appears we are in for a real treat right after sunset which occurs at 8.52 pm from Dublin.

The innermost planet Mercury shining at -0.4 magnitude will be 2 degrees south of M45 the Pleiades. Time to set up telescopes, binoculars and imaging equipment. Let's report back as to what we saw. Mercury is less than 1 astronomical unit from Earth; about 149,000,000 kilometres.

I imagine this does not happen too often. It should be good.

At present I have very clear skies.

They will be a little closer tonight, I don't think the weather is going to play ball, alas. :-(

Hi, Paul. I won't be free on Friday night.

I did observe tiny Mercury on Thursday night alright. But I never saw the Pleiades.

However, Venus had a very pleasant surprise for us. To its west, I split 118 Tauri at 40X with Venus also in the field of view -very nice!
