Good evening, all.

Some of you might be interested to know that the Lunar X is due to appear at some stage tonight Monday 3rd April between 10 pm and midnight.
On the east coast, we still have some rain to contend with over the next few hours.
But amateur astronomers in the west of Ireland might get a view with their scopes.

The Lunar X is caused by 6 craters on the terminator. They are: La Caille, Blanchinus, Purbach, Werner, Regiomontanus and Walter.

Magnifications from 40X are required.

Clear skies,

Aubrey.

Sorry about, Finbarr.

We had to be patient over here in Dublin.
But it was worth it all in the end.
At 112X in my apo, the Lunar X was simply glorious from 23.10 local time until midnight.
It was only my 3rd time to observe it.
There were an awful lot of clouds alright. But we also saw the Lunar V and Rima Hyginus during the breaks.

Tomorrow we can view Rupes Recta very close to the terminator.
It is my favourite lunar feature.

Clear skies for Tuesday night,

Aubrey.

Delighted to hear that Aubrey. If I've got my figures right, this particular Lunar X was 4 hours after 1st Quarter, whereas February's for example was 6 hours before. It depends on the lunar longitude of the terminator, as the timing of same differs with successive lunations.

Finbarr.
