Hi,

The ISS will transit the Sun as seen from locations in Dublin on the 11th and 14th of September.

11th 7h23m01.39s
www.calsky.com/?Transitline=&tdt=2456546....00000231&mainbody=0

The centerline is from Merrion gates to Rathcoole. The track width is 12.8k so it should be easily visible 6k ether side of the line.

Crosses the disk of Sun. Separation=0.133° Position Angle=350.3°, Position angle vertex=26.5°. Transit duration=2.04s
Angular diameter=20.9" size=109.0m x 73.0m x 27.5m
Satellite at Azimuth= 99.8° E Altitude= 13.0° Distance=1322.4 km
In a clock-face concept, the satellite will seem to move toward 8:07
Angular Velocity=13.5'/s

Centerline, closest point →Map: Longitude= 6°08'03"W Latitude=+53°19'42" (WGS84) Distance=6.31 km Azimuth=345.9° NNW Path direction= 75.7° ENE ground speed=11.520 km/s width=12.8 km max. duration=2.4 s
Orbit source: NASA predicted orbit

Merrion gates to Lucan this time. 9k width so again favouring South Dublin.

Crosses the disk of Sun. Separation=0.144° Position Angle=20.9°, Position angle vertex=46.7°. Transit duration=1.13s
Angular diameter=36.5" size=109.0m x 73.0m x 27.5m
Satellite at Azimuth=133.3° SE Altitude= 30.9° Distance=757.6 km
In a clock-face concept, the satellite will seem to move toward 7:27
Angular Velocity=23.7'/s

Centerline, closest point →Map: Longitude= 6°06'01"W Latitude=+53°17'37" (WGS84) Distance=2.39 km Azimuth= 17.6° NNE Path direction=107.6° ESE ground speed=8.280 km/s width=9.0 km max. duration=1.3 s
Orbit source: NASA predicted orbit

You can set up you own alerts on calsky.com to get alerts, I'm just posting these as they are passes covering most of South Dublin.

These transits are over in a second or two. To give you an idea of what to expect, this is a video of a transit from earlier in the year where the centerline passed almost over me.

enjoy!

I'm just making sure of the times, Albert. They are Irish Summer times, aren't they? Not those nasty universal times. Thank you.

Aubrey.
