IFAS Sketching Competition - Feedback Wanted was created by michaeloconnell
For the past number of months now, we have held the IFAS sketching competition.
I'd be interested to hear your feedback.
Should we continue with it monthly?
Should we change it to bi-monthly or perhaps each quarter?
How about a break for the summer mabey?
Would you like to see any changes to the format of it?

Let us know your thoughts on it.

Regards,

Michael.

Are you thinking along these lines because there is a lack of entries?

As a sometimes contributer I feel it should be given a chance for another while. Its a forum for budding sketchers and will take a while for people to have the courage to contribute.
Personally an injury earlier in the year and the weather now for a long time has prevented me from doing any observing.

First-off, I've no issues with running the competition for the foreseeable future. We have had it up and running now for a few months and I just wanted to know what people thought of it up thus far. In an ideal world, it would be great to get more entries. Of course, I know the weather hasn't been great lately, we are in the summer period and sketching is not everybodys cup of tea. At the same time, I didn't want to see a situation where the same 1 or 2 people entered every month.

Are there any changes to the format whicbh people would like to see implemented?

Offer money as a prize.B)

No, seriously, is there any indication of the number of sketchers out there? I've only recently taken it up myself and a sketching competition is a great way to showcase your work.

Perhaps an idea might be not to set a particular subject each month, but leave it open, have galaxies and clusters and planets and the moon. There are some out there who specialise on the moon, others prefer open clusters and others galaxies.

I wouldn't like to see the competition go as I enjoy watching the work of others and it gives inspiration.

Would an idea be to have an annual competition where the winner could recieve a printed certificate? Maybe even a badge along the lines of the Astronomy League?

Just a thought.

I'd struggle to sketch a smiley :)

But I really do enjoy looking at the sketches folks here produce. So I'd like to see it stay.
