TheMorning Planets at this time

Its quite amazing really... at the time I am typing this, Venus and Jupiter are still visible in the sky! Jupiter is about 1.25 degrees from the Moon's rights, and Venus is much lower down. I am surprised at how visible Venus is in the morning dawn light. The sun is just perched on the edge of the horizon!

When I got Jupiter in the bino's at about 7:50am, I swear that I could see 1 of the satellites to its left, very close. Must confirm if I saw this.

Yea great way to start the day, although all the people passing on the way to work must have been wondering why I was in the front garden with a pair of binoculars. BTW three of galileo's moons were clearly visible with my binos even at that hour of the morning.

Yep, was out for a quick squint myself this morning. It was nice to be able to see the sky again! Picked out three myself, two to the top right, one to the bottom left (very close).

The moon actually occulted Jupiter this morning from parts of the U.S.
Read an artical on the web someplace about it on Sunday night - can't remember where though. Will check the history on my PC when I get home from work.

Unfortunately we were clouded out here in Wisconsin and missed the occultation of Jupiter this morning. We actually received our first snowfall of the year yesterday and the clouds still haven't left.

Isn't it always the way - there's something worth seeing going on in the sky... and in roll the clouds! :roll:
At least you'll probably have a white Christmas. Over here, ours will just be wet and soggy!
