Latest Geomagnetic and Auroral Activity Conditions
Updated: 17:15 UTC 20 November (12:15 pm EDT, 20 November):
A severe geomagnetic storm is in-progress. The disturbance originating from the complex coronal mass ejection of 18 November arrived near 08:00 UTC and produced fairly prompt storm conditions. Storming is expected to persist through the next 6 to 12 hours. The auroral oval has migrated significantly southward and should promote the observation of auroral activity from lower latitude dark-sky sites.

It's truly spectacular here in Limerick. It's directly over head, with the streamers going out in alll directions, a very intense red one going east and green/torqouise going west. I must be directly beneath the curtain.

Back inside for a brief break...
All I can say is wow, at one stage it looked like we were heading for warp speed - looking towards the zenith there were streaks of multi-coloured light going in all directions.
Seems to have died down a little now but I'm going right back out for the night, well at least till the moon is up.

Pretty much the same in Dublin, I can make it out quite clearly in the middle of a business park in clontarf, and the view from Dollymount Strand is spectacular. Its hard to judge if its brighter than the aurora a couple of weeks back from where I was witht he light pollution, but it certainly covers almost the whole sky, with curtains just visible overhead.
Now back to work unfortunately...
