Registax is at registax.astronomy.net/ and is free.
Astrostack is at www.astrostack.com is shareware, ie freeish!

There is a bit to registax, but its the bees knees when you get used to it, just start pressing buttons and you'll quickly get the hang of it.

Conor,
Dont try to change too much in registax initially. Just open your avi video, click align. Let registax do the work. When you get to the 'wavelets' page just play around with the sliders till you get the best looking image you can. Its also worth clicking on the brightness/contrast tab and again play around to see what looks good.
