Whats with the weather. was created by DaveGrennan
Just thinking back on October. I didnt get one single night where I could do long exposure astrophotography. There was a couple of good nights around the full moon but that was it.
It seems the azores high has gone south (literally!!!). The azores high normally sits around the azores (funnilly enough) expanding and contracting occassionally providing us with either a blocking anticyclone or at least enough to steer a few atlantic fronts to the north of us. However since early October its been notable by its absence, hence the continuous queue of atlantic depressions which seem to be just trundling in one after another.
Whats worse is I can see no sign of an improvement in the short term. Normally around mid november we can often get a blocking anticyclone coming in from the east, but with the strenght of the westerly jet streams I'd be worried its not gonna happen this year.
ANy other amateur Gerry Flemings got an opinion on all this?
Well thats it from me, a veeerrrrrry good night ty's (big wink)

BTW metcheck have a decent read on the prospects this winter season. I like the bit about frequent anti cyclones:)

It's the yanks with all their hurricanes latley. They thrash Louisiana and Florida then wind up here, with less energy so they just stay and rain on us for a couple of weeks each!

Its looking like it might be clear tonight, but could all that be associated with this cold winter prediction ??
Maybe something will click in the atmosphere and this will stop and we'll enter a deep freeze over the next few month, which hopefully might mean some frosty clear skies

You found some optimistic weather man Dave?
Checked the cloud forecast earlier on Theyr.net and it looks nasty.
