Peter,
Thanks for the heads-up since this is something which is of personal interest for remote offsite work!

Hi Peter
I looked into purchasing a Power inverter a number of months ago. The unit for sale in Aldi if my guess is correct is one of a modified sine wave type (square wave) hence the bargain price. This is fine for everyday electrical objects, e.g., kitchen appliances, electrical work tools etc. I believe most laptops seems to work OK on Modified wave inverters.
For sensitive electrical equipment I would recommend a pure sine wave inverter which gives an equal clean or better electrical supply to that of domestic supply which maybe prudent considering our sensitive astronomical equipment such as astronomical CCD cameras/Videos, Computerised Mounts and ancillary equipment (focusers, filter wheels etc.), this is my basic understanding of these units. Although for 39.99 Euro it would be a good piece of kit to have in general.
Clear skies

Beware though.
There are two tytes of inverter.
1.Pure Sine wave output.
2.Mangled square wave output.
For most purposes Type 2 is ok
(At the price I suspect Type 2.)
Peter.
