Hello! was created by Nephin
Hi everyone.
I'm new here. I got my new telescope yesterday. Its a Celestron Astromaster 90EQ. Nothing fancy but I did some research and I thought this one would be best for me starting off and within budget. I didn't get a chance to test it out as it was too cloudy last night.
The equatorial mount will take a bit of getting use to but looking forward to learning as I go along.
Pat.

Hi Pat,
welcome along! You've got a huge resource here with this website and all the info it offers to you. The 90EQ is a fine little refractor, it will give you many years of enjoyment - before you get aperture fever, of course, and want BIGGER! We've done a recent overhaul on these forums, so you can also give us your feedback as a newbie to these on navigation and how you found/find stuff. Use the Search in the upper most right corner to search for things.
Where are you located Pat? There could be a club near you that does observing sessions and thus give you hands-on demos of the equatorial mount and so on.
Enjoy your stay!
Seanie.

Thanks guys. I'm based in Sligo. I don't think there is a club close by. I'll just have to be patient and get plenty of practice. Just have to wait for some clear skys!

Hi Pat and welcome.
A 90mm refractor is a great starter scope as it will show so much, moon, planets, double stars, etc. You'll soon get the hand of the equatorial mount, if you have any trouble just ask as there are many people on the site only too willing to help.
It's true what Seanie says, aperture fever will creep up on you and before you know it you'll be hauling out a 12" dob and wondering why your back is aching in the morning.
