New topic notification was created by finnjim2001
Bart welcome back and i hope you had a good christmas. just a quick query. is their any need for the new topic notification as i like many here log in regularly. yesterday was a busy day here on the board and as a result i've 15 new topic notifications in my inbox this morning when i logged in. i/m sorry to say i've had to tell yahoo to treat these as spam as i find it annoying but that's just me. :-( :?

Please don't get rid of the new topic notification messages. Without them I wouldn't know what's going on on the IFAS board. I'm afraid I am not inclined to check the website message boards unless there is a specific thread I want to follow, as I find trawling through the IFAS forum structure a pain. In the absence of a mailing list, the new topic notifications save the day for me! Might it be possible to have a setting in the user profile to send or restrict topic notifications instead? If I could suggest a possible improvement, would it be possible to include the name or subject of the new topic in the subject line of the new topic notification?

i.e.Subject: www.irishastronomy.org - New Topic Notification - Webcams.

All the best, and Happy New Year,

Philip.

I have to agree with philip here. I think the new topic emails are great. The amount doesnt annoy me as I use gmail and it automatically organizes all those received into 'conversations'.

Might it be possible to have a setting in the user profile to send or restrict topic notifications instead?

If possible an option in the profile is a great idea. Alternatively finnjim2001 does yahoo support filters...? so you could set up all the notifications to go in a dedicated folder. This way they wouldnt clutter up your main inbox.

As Al said, you can turn off the notifications if you want, in fact, if you read the notification emails the link is in them!
