BBC4 on sky digital in ROI was created by mjs
BBC4 is not automatically available on Sky digital in the South of Ireland, so you cannot see the extended program of The Sky at night that is repeated at 8:30 on Monday night.
It is however possible to recieve it (at the moment anyway) by doing the following.
Go into the services section, (3rd cyan button on top)
Select add channels.
Change the info to the following:-
Frequency :- 10.773
Polarization:- Horizontal
Symbol rate:- 22.00 mbaud
FEC:- 5/6
Then select "find channels" select the channels you want to keep (including BBC4)
To access BBC4 you need to select Services again, then "other channels" and pick BBC4 from the list.
The sky at night is on at 8:30 tonight and again at 1:30am.

Thanks Michael. Just agve it a try and it worked perfectly.
Just wondering, if I unsubscribe from Sky, is this one of those "free" channels I can get?
Thanks.

Got BBC4 no problem. Had a look at the link, I assume I just use the same procedures to get any channels I want from that Link?
Someone advertises in our localish paper that for a fee they can come out and get ITV1,2, CH4, CH5. does anyone know how I can get these channels without paying someone to do it, or does it need other equipment?

As far as I know there are only two ways to do this for a once off fee.
1. A free to view card fom sky in uk for £20 (one off payment) this gives you the channels you mentioned, get a friend to buy card in uk, it will work with irish sky box. You need a sky box but not a subscription
2. Some areas on our east coast benefit from terestrial digital overspill from uk...if this is the case then a uk set top box called "freeview" is all that is needed and you get about 30 channels. These can now be got for about £50 -£70 GBP.
To get the other channels on the link above, just add any transponders to you sky box and scan them. you should then be able to select the channels you want.
