An unexpected Aurora has just appeared in the north about 15deh high. There has been a few beams spotted but go outside now!!!

Just had a look outside here in Tyrrellspass - can't see any hint of an aurora Conor. Maybe you are 'just' getting it as you are that bit further North than me.

Its an amazingly clear night down here - woohay for lack of light pollution!

Absolutely nothing to be seen from Tyrrellspass or Tullamore. I have pitch dark skies for the first time in a while (clean air helps), and there is no hint of an aurora for the past half hour.

Saturn looks great though! And Jupiter is just peeping on the horizon!

No Aurora here in Naas .... not that I was expecting one this far south.

However, 2 questions regarding Aurorae ...

If you did get a period of high activity ;
1) How long would you need to keep watch before you get a glimpse of the Aurora ?

2) How long would the display last ?

Just been out Variablr Star observing for the 1st time in a while, no sign of an aurora here in Cavan :(

has been confirmed by EAAS chairman john mc connell. spotted at 8:08pm then died of and on visible now about 5deg up low arc!
check this show aurora over northern ireland now .well i got a call about it and seen it 2secs after in a light up room with no night vision at all! display seems on & off but always a low arc visible :D
