Clear skies - Sunday 5th July 2020 was created by flt158
Good day to everyone.

Some weather websites are claiming we just might have clear skies on Sunday night 5th July.
From Dublin, sunset will occur at 21.54.
If it's true, I will set up my scope in the back garden.
I will try and finish off some double stars in Corona Borealis.
I have 4 to sort out plus 1 extra tight one.

Clear skies to you all from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,

Many thanks for the update. If the wind eases tonight it'll be my first session in a couple of weeks...here's  hoping!

All the best,

Darren.

Hello everyone.
The wind will die down somewhat after 9 pm on Sunday night.
But there will be blowing at 28 km to 20 km per hour as midnight occurs.
So it's best to wait until 9 pm before deciding.
And there is still a large shower coming from the west right now (7.30 pm).
So it's all very iffy right now.
Maybe Monday night will be better.

Astronomy in Ireland can be so tough at times.
Even when the skies clear we can still have very strong winds instead!

Best regards from Aubrey.

That's why I want to retire to Spain, Aubrey.

And who could blame you, Paul?!
You could always live near Kinch. Ha Ha.

We're still waiting for the winds to die down.
That large shower appears to have fizzled out as it approached Dublin.
It's all games!
And there doesn't seem to be much hope regarding Monday night I'm afraid.
Although there will be far less wind the skies are probably going to be mostly cloudy. Boo Hoo.

Aubrey.

I had too much cloud for my liking on Sunday night.
I did observe Arcturus, and then split Izar at 112X and 140X.
It was when I sought out the bright stars of Corona Borealis - that was when the trouble started. The wind wouldn't die down and the clouds kept coming over me.

But we might just have clear skies on Monday night.
So I'll just have to a little bit more patient.

Clear skies from Aubrey.
