While driving to work this morning from Ardfert in Co. Kerry, I saw what was easily the largest balloid I have ever seen. It seemed to start at the zenith and traveled relatively slowly south by south east. Anyone in South Kerry or west Cork would have had a good view. Anyone else see it ? It did not explode, had a slight blue/green colour and disappeared about 20 degrees above the southern horizon. A small fragment seemed to break off before disappearing.

The time was 7:30am +/- 2 minutes and it must have been magnitude -4 easily.

Paddy.

So thats what I saw at approx 07:35 when just outside Kilseehlan Co Tipperary. Again very low in the sky, bright, approx half a moon diamater with a 'commet' like tail heading in an approx S SE direction. ( I was on a push bike avoiding trucks etc...on my way to work)

Paddy & Donal I saw that from Waterford City.

It was big, did not hear anything as I had earphones.

IMO it broke into a number of pieces prior to disappearing somewhere over Tramore (South East).

Seen from Kerry, South Tipp and Waterford.
