IFAS Article Competition 2008: Cash Prizes up for grabs. was created by darragh
Hi,
The Web Team have been working hard on a new version of website which will be even better and cooler than the current website with lots of features like calendars, forecasts, galleries, etc.
And now for how you can help the web team and may even win a prize.
To help set-up the new website, the web team are looking for lots of new articles, tutorials and content for the website.
So the Web Team has set-up a competition to get content for the website.
The competition will be for best article or tutorial submitted for the new website and prizes will be awarded for the best article and the runner-up.
The prizes will be €100 for the winner and €50 for the runner-up.
The article/tutorial can be on any area of astronomy from binocular viewing through telescope making to photometry and unto deep sky objects and planets, whatever takes your interest as long as it's astronomy related.
The competition will be run from today for 4 weeks and winners will be announced the 27th of February
And now for the small print:
1. The competition is only open to members of an IFAS affiliated club or society.
2. The closing date for entries is midnight on the 16th of February
3. A panel of 3 judges have been selected and judges decision will be final
4. The winner and runner-up will be announced on the 27th of February
5. All articles/tutorials submitted will be copyright of IFAS and the author.
6. Articles can and may be used on the website.
7. All articles should be original works
8. Articles will be judged on accessibility to all members, detail, technical accuracy and relevancy.
9. All entries should sent by email to articlecomp@irishastronomy.org
10. Articles should be a minimum of 800 words in length, preferably 1000-1500 words in length
So get your thinking caps and starting writing an article on your favourite astronomical subject, you could win a prize for it!

I know from experince doing Réalta for TAS, that there are plenty of people out there willing to write. And who write good articles too. Now is the chance to get your penmanship seen, and displayed, through this site.
Plus, there are some really cool cash prizes up for grabs...
Hey Darragh, is that rule that you sometimes see about employees and their families are not allowed to enter in effect here?

LOVE the article on imaging the moon.
Definitely should be included as most of us commonly takes photos of the moon.
(even if the green text on black BG is a little dazing)

Anthony,
Thanks for those articles, we will use them.
The idea of the competition is to get more people to contribute the website from beginners to experts and to get a good knowledge base on the website.
And hopefully, all the articles submitted will be useful to all members.
