CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT: TAS becomes MAC was created by Seanie_Morris
At last nights regular TAS monthly meeting, a Special General Meeting was held. Over the past year, the TAS committee has toyed with the idea (for a second time it its history) at a permanent name change. Last night, the motion was proposed and voted upon by members. By overwhelming majority, Tullamore Astronomical Society will become known as the Midlands Astronomy Club, or by its abreviation, MAC.
The return of the MAC since first proposed in 1992 is a big step for the MAC, as it has been shown that the MAC covers a large area across the Irish Midlands, with current members from Offaly, Westmeath, Laois, Carlow, and Kildare. You could almost call it, The Big MAC...
Puns aside (: cheer: ), the new name will be promoted as much as possible in the coming months, and with the start of its new astronomy calendar in January, it is envisaged that there will be a new logo, new website, new e-mail address, and new beginnings for us.
Rest assured, nothing otherwise has changed. The same droopy-looking and self proclaimed He-Mans (it's all male here) committee will continue to run it in the hopes that there will be magic crystals to GET RID of clouds and help MAC further promote the hobby of Astronomy and allied subjects.
Clear SKies,
Seanie.
