Hi All,

Just got this press release from Birr Castle today:

Astronomical Talk at Birr Castle Demesne

‘The Bethlehem Star: An Astronomical Detective Story.’

Our latest talk takes on a Christmas theme, entitled ‘The Bethlehem Star: An Astronomical Detective Story.’ This talk will reveal the scientific theories behind the famous Christmas star, said to have marked the birth of Jesus Christ. There are various explanations proposed for the mysterious ‘star,’ which will be uncovered tonight, Wednesday 3 December at 7 p.m. This fascinating scientific exploration of the Messiah star will be presented by Tony O’Hanlon from the Shannonside Astronomy Club, who is also the developer and lecturer for Birr Castle’s first weekly science course, ‘Astronomy for Beginners.’ Tickets are 5 euro per person, for further information, please contact us on 05791 20336.

Regards,

Michael.

Sounds great, nice and festive.
I wish Tony the best of luck with it & the course he is running.

(FYI Mike,
Tony is actually not a current member of Shannonside Astronomy Club.
Hasn't been since his disappearance from the club last year.
Just so people are clear it is Tony himself running these and not the club.)

FWIW, the post is as per the press release issued to me from Birr Castle (not from Tony).

It must be an oversight on behalf of Birr Castle then.

It probably is. I was talking to Tony about his work in the Castle recently, and it is due in no small part with his previous liaison with the Earl during his time with SAC at Whirlpool. A case of once one's foot is in the door. He got quite a good response from the public too regarding his astronomy classes. I hope the Christmas series works out even better!
