Well done Shannonside Astronomy Club was created by R Newman
Just want to say well done to all at SAC, Dave, Frank, John and Stephen for a great event in the lovely village of Ballyvaughan in North Clare today. A good turnout too.
Pity about the weather but the skies did clear after 11pm..

Yes, well done to all those in SAC who organised the Burren Star Party.
It's easy to sit back and simply attend these events, but it takes a lot of work to organise them.
Well done to you all for a very good event.
Prizes were excellent too - I'll make sure Denise puts that camera to good use...
Regards,
Michael.

Hi Guys'n Gals,
Many thanks for the kind words, and that praise also goes to Simon, Conan, Gerry, Gordon and Catherine (hope I didnt forget anyone).
Many in the club contributed to making this work by spreading the load, a core group of 9 people with many others in the club also helping out.
And many thanks to all who came along to make it such an enjoyable event, we were thrilled we got the numbers as events like these are sustainable only if people can be enticed to come along.
We're all living under the cloud of the recession so we did our best at selecting an interesting scenic venue offering alot for you to do if you wish to tour the area and at a price that was as attractive as possible with the best draw prizes we could get our hands on, I must have bought 20 of those tickets myself, yet that camera got away
I'd also like to thank the 3 speakers for their excellent and interesting talks. It is after all, why we were all there.
So guys, it was great meeting all of you again, it was a deep dissapointment that the weather didnt co-operate with us on the night but that's the chance we run with all starparties in this country, we'll do what we can to influence the weather next year. : blink: :silly:

Many thanks to everyone that attended our first Burren Starparty.
Pity about the weather but anyone that did drive up to the site must
Surely have seen just how dark it gets up there.
(I even went so far as to walk into a wall and
Wreck my knee - just to prove it!)
Obviousy we must thank John Daveron and his family
For the use of the media center and also for getting
Every household on the local area to turn all thier lights off
For the night!! When he suggested it to me when I began
Speaking to him earlier in the year about running it there
I thought he wad joking! But no, it was pitch black up
There - what a community effort!
Thanks a million also to all the committee and
Club Members that made running it such a pleasure.
I remember at a meeting back earlier in the year when
When it became obvious that the whirlpool in Birr
Would be a non-runner,
I suggested a one day / night observation style event
In the Burren insted there were a few raised eyebrows
And even some committee members Took a lot of convincing
But now that it's all over and pretty much a success
I think it's safe to say we will definatly run it again next year.
So thanks again to everyone in SAC that contributed and helped
In any way....
Without these peoples help it simply wouldn't happen.
So folks, I hope you enjoyed the talks, the sights and the
Craic. I surely did!
The discussions in the bar Saturday night were great fun.
Hopefully next year the weather will play ball!
