MAC StarBQ and Camp Night Sat June 22nd was created by Seanie_Morris
Hi All,

Here at Midlands Astronomy Club, we like to get a few informal club events during the summer, mostly a StarBQ where Astronomy is secondary! This Saturday June 22nd, weather permitting, we'll have a barbecue and campfire at our Clonminch Site. It is a free-for-all, bring a tent to stay over (most of us in the club plan to do so), bring a friend and the kids. We'll have the barbie, you bring your food (and beer, enjoy responsibly).

The usual things like an easy/camping chair, extra fleece, midge repellent, and extra water/food, binoculars (to spy on the stars, not the neighbours), and food for breakfast if you are camping over!

It's all for fun, and if it is your first time, it gives you an idea of what we do for our renowned annual Perseids StarBQ.

Directions and more info can be obtained by emailing midlandsastronomy@gmail.com or by asking here.

Clear Skies,

Seanie.

The committee is wondering to go ahead Saturday night with the barbecue, because the weather could work mostly in our favour with just an odd shower.

Was anyone else (outside of the club) thinking of coming, out of curiosity?

Unfortunately Pat, we have to postpone it, the weather is pretty bad this morning. I'll repost a new date later.

I Concur....agree even. The weather is a bit unstable - but hopefully in the month of july we might get another dry warm spell. I don't mind eating my burger in the rain, but when yer bun gets wet!!!!
Looking foreward to the craic when it does happen anyway :gramps:

Hi,
It would have been a brave man who went out in a tent last night, it was very bad here, and of course its a great night tonight...
A good idea guys, but like everything else in this part of the world, you're at the mercy of the weather.
