Moonfish Wide Angle 32mm 2" eyepiece

I wanted an eyepiece that would allow me to see The Double Cluster and other wide field objects in the same field of view.

After much research I settled on the Moonfish Wide Angle 32mm 2" eyepiece . Its 70 degree field of view with my SCT delivers an actual field of view of 1.07 degrees which is close to the maximum possible for my 8".

The eyepiece, ordered online from www.moonfishgroup.com arrived in prestine condition from Spain within a couple of days of order. I had not actually realised how big a 2" eyepeice actually was. My existing stock of 1.25" Meades now seem like tiny micro toys.

Tried it out last night on the first night of the re-opened Cloon Wood sessions. Views delivered were simple stunning with pinpoint stars almost all the way out to the edges of the field. The port-hole effect certainly made me feel like I was falling into the field. The Moonfish range seems to be very competitively priced compared to the more well known established brands.

I have never looked through a nagler or a teleview but I think they would need to be something special to beat this.

I have to agree, I have the Moonfish 30mm Ultrawide 80° 2" Eyepiece, and my eye cant take in the field of view, it is like looking out a window. It works very well with both my scopes!!!

I second Steve's opinion of the 30mm, in my f6.5 refractor the views of the Milky Way are stunning, well worth the ridiculously low price.

The new 2" must be a monster cuz i got my 1.25" kit today and the 32mm is HUGE..........................

Would you mind posting a Picture of it David. I was thinking of getting a 40mm eyepiece for widefield viewing but also to take advantage of the extra light for fainter objects.

Sounds like a great eyepiece Dave, looking forward to seeing it sometime.
