A Moon called "The Moon" was created by Johnno
I'm crackin' up with all this bad weather :x
I came around to doing some reading on the various moons in our solar system.
"We" came up with beautiful and imaginitive names like
Ganymede, Callisto, Enceladus, Calypso, Umbriel, Oberon, Thalassa and Proteus to name a few.
So what do we call "our" Moon...... "The Moon"
Will somebody please explain
Clear skies

Johnno - I think we're all suffering cabin fever...
I really like the Uranian moon names - from A Midsummer's Night Dream I think. And not the usual names of mythical figures/Gods.
Where Moon came from, I've no idea. Well, at least Moon in terms of the bright object in the sky...

S'funny, but I always thought that our moon (lower case 'm') was called either Selene or Luna... not 'the Moon.' Likewise, the sun is called Sol. 'The moon' and 'the sun' are just common reference.

I was wondering that - I think in French its La Luna. Haven't heard Selene though.

That used to be the case. I wonder when the English language got so boring?
