Increased solar activity

Been monitoring activity, seems there is a lot of activity including some M class and this X1.8 class flare this morning

Thanks for the heads-up Charles.
I just took a look at the sun and it's showing the most activity I've seen since last autumn when we had the auroras.
Below is a pic I just took:

I'd definetly recommend taking a look (provided you have the proper equipment and use it safely of course etc..)

The Sun is really performing at the moment, is that big activity rotating away from us.

What about that spot entering the disk isn't it enormous!! Below is a webcam image with the CG11 taken this evening (July 18). Has it got an AR designation yet?



Hopefully we get some good displays from it.

So that group is rotating into our view, are we looking at a repeat of the Aurorae of Autumn last year ???
