Got lucky. Just enough time to capture it. Great working from home!!!
It was a really nice (& massive) prominence but quite dim visually in the PST. Luckily the Toucam could catch it (only at it's longest exposure though!). Saw the same one yesterday but it was probably 1/3rd the size.
Not exactly a Larry Alvarez image but here ye go.
I prefer the sillhouette version but have also attached one with some surface detail.
PST + B&W Toucam + 2.5x Powermate. The 5x Powermate was pushing the 40mm aperture way to far
1500 frames for prominence and 2000 for the surface.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Super images Trev. Amazing proms!
Only comment I would make is that it looks like you processed the disc separately to the proms leaving a very sharp line as a boundary. What I do when I make HA images is I make two copies of the image - one called "proms" and one called "disc". I process each image separately. Then, when I want to merge them, I select the disc, but with a feather applied. When it's pasted onto the proms image, the feather helps reduce the edge effect.
Any of that make sense to you?

Thanks for the comments guys.
Michael, thanks for the tips. Was finding it hard to get rid of that black line. It really spoils it. Must try that method out.
Beautiful night out now. Best transparency I've seen in a long long time.
