Bad luck Eamonn. I was hoping you might get it as the clouds have been solid here in Dublin all night. Hopefully Vagelis managed to make the observation (fingers crossed for success from Greece).
Hi Folks,
It was clear skies here for about 2 hours before the event. Then up to 10 minutes before the occultation
tonight here Co. Roscommon the clouds rolled in from the NW.
Bad luck Eamonn. I was hoping you might get it as the clouds have been solid here in Dublin all night. Hopefully Vagelis managed to make the observation (fingers crossed for success from Greece).
Regards and Clear Skies,
Dave.

Dear friends,
I have good news: NO clouds here in Athens!
The weather was great, the seeing was very good.
Oh, and NO OCCULTATION was observed. The star was "bright and kicking" in all the CCD frames taken by me and Tolis Christou.
We decided to take 15 sec exposures with ATIK 16-HR on EA's 16" SCT.
Observation time 10:20 - 10:33 UT.
As we were leaving after we had called it a night, the sight of the crescent moon rising was beautiful.
Also, Thanasis Douvris, a friend from Sparta, southern Greece, reported a negative visual observation.
The e-mails I see so far in Plannocult mailing list, observations were not possible in most cities of Europe, as it was cloudy.
eg in Nederlands, Germany, Czeck Republic, Espana, etc...
I do hope someone had better luck! Observation reports keep coming...
Vagelis.

Even though I was working through the event, it was completely raining after midnight on my way home. Hard lucks guys. Hopefully Anto will be able to give us some images or a short movie to drool over...
