Amazing images here, particuarly from SOHO show ing that Comet Lovejoy survived it's closest approcah to the sun today, you don't see this very often!

not only has it survived the close shave with the Sun, its apparently visible before sunrise, especially from the southern hemisphere.
It passed less then 200k kilometers from the suns surface and didnt vaporise, amazing considering the sun is about 1.4 million km across !!

thats a great lookin comet, it looks like it'll get bright enough to be easily seen in twilight, it only we could get an look at it.

Its visible in the sky at sunrise here but the weather has been crap
