Thank you Pat Kenny was created by albertw
for mentioning ILPAC
www.rte.ie/radio1/morning/patkenny/ to listen to Thursdays program, the mention is 1:43 into the show.
He does mention irishastronomy.org, almost implying an alterior motive for ILPAC, but at least he mentioned it
Cheers,
~Al

He implied that my concern was just that we couldnt see the stars, and dissed the point on energy waste a little.
He has a point obviously! But a lot of people involved in ILPAC are not amateur astronomers.
otoh it did keep him talking about it for an extra few seconds
Cheers,
~Al

Wally's right Al,
even though Pat sounded like he was adding sarcasm at the end, as maybe he doesn't feel as you or I, or any of else here do on the light pollution issue, at least about 80,000+ listeners heard it, and its a start.
You know those leaflets you sent down my way regarding light pollution in Armagh? Does ILPAC have any funding to do information leaflets for the 26 counties? Even A3 posters that members here can get a hold of (like the VT ones you sent down) and post in local libraries and schools - cheap, and would reach a wide audience...

ILPAC doesnt have the money to put a stamp on an letter!
It's something that we will be discussing before Whirlpool though, whether to change the format of ILPAC to have paid up members, but then we need to work out what to offer the `members` that other people dont get. Theres also the possibility of selling t-shirts/posters etc. but I can do without having to run a shop!
Applying for grans is an option, but that needs a lot more planning!
Cheers,
~Al
