Hi,
The Irish Light Pollution Awareness Campaign will have its official launch at Whirlpool this weekend, at 11am on Sunday Morning. Many thanks to David Bell and the Shannonside Astronomy Club for giving us the oppertunity to speak at the Whirlpool Star Party.
For any of this campaign to be a success we need support. In particular we want to build up a network of regional members who would be willing to help out with submissions, giving talks, and talking to the local media. So please get in touch if you can help out!
Among the things ILPAC will bo doing are:
* Giving public talks and lectures to interested groups about the effects of light pollution and the progress that is being made worldwide and in Ireland for better lighting.
* Producing leaflets about light pollution.
* Publishing sample letters and submissions for people who want to write to their coucils, TD's and local business asking them to consider better lighting designs, and how to object to bad lighting where necessary.
* Putting the case for better lighting regulations to the Governemnt and Councils.
