Jupiter and Mars Conjunction was created by Neill
Jupiter and Mars putting on a good show in the morning sky. The gap between the 2 is only 13 arc minutes on Sunday morning.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

And the weather looks like it will behave, for once.

At first my sky was mostly overcast at 7 am.
But by 7.55 am I could see both Jupiter and Mars very close in a north -south direction with my own eyes.
Mars looked beautifully small below the big fellow.
As a lot of my Sundays continue to be very busy with church music, I had no opportunity to use either binoculars or telescope.
But I have to say, the conjunction looked stunning as the sky was beginning to brighten.
The Moon looked lovely too.
Clear skies from Aubrey.

Nice shots Finbarr, both you and Aubery were braver than me going out in the cold, I saw them both naked eye from my bedroom wind with Mars barely noticeable below Jupiter, although you could clearly see the colour contrast between the pair

Did anyone see Jupiter, Mars and the crescent Moon at about 7 am on Wednesday morning?
It was a truly magnificent sight.
Please note the Moon will be much closer on Thursday morning 11th January.
Maybe the fog will lift by then.
Aubrey.
