What a beautiful sight tonight. The young moon with the dazzling planet Venus.

The clouds were never too far away. This image was taken at about 23:15 and you can just make out the star in Gemini under Venus.

It was a pretty cool sight alright.

They just showed it on the NASCAR coverage during a lull in the race.

It's worse than that, it's physics Jim!

Great shot Michael.

I think that small amount of cloud under the moon adds a little touch of mystery.

Thanks for the compliments,

That's a lovely pic, can I ask what equipment you used to take it?

Canon 300D, Sigma 300 mm @ f5.6 lens ISO 800, 1.0 sec exposure.

Oh a pair of sewing threads across the lens hood for the diffraction spikes!
