shuttle visibility from Ireland tonight ? was created by ftodonoghue
Hi Folks
just wondering if the Shuttle is visible from Ireland tonight. and in particular sw ireland. I have looked at calsky, but it seems to say that shuttle is not visible tonight, but AI are saying it is. Whats the story and where do I get correct info.
The info is not posted on heavens-above yet.

Trevor,
To find the info on Calsky for the shuttle, you need to go to a seperate page: www.calsky.com/?shuttle=&interval=7
The times for tomorow night are:
Appears: 2230m58s ; 3.6mag ; az: 263.6° W horizon
Culmination: 22h35m44s ; -1.6mag ; az:178.7° S h:64.1° ; distance: 365.8km ; height above Earth: 331.2km
Disappears: 22h37m35s
These times are for Kildare, but shouldn't be too different for the West.

I guess just keep looking up after 23:36hrs tonight - that's the scheduled lift-off time. If, like Eugene Burke down in Deise AS was able to see it last time, it follows pretty much the same course seeing as the ISS is passing overhead as well, you might spot it after launch?

Just wondering, once it has launched, I presume it heads out over the Atlantic? Therefore, if that's the case, we should see it in only a few minutes I would expect. Would be handy if we could see the live chart from mission control.

Well, I'm stumped... someone up there doesn't like me...
