Rain almost all the way up to midnight down here. Cleared up, but only slightly, rarely offering a view of the whole of Perseus. I was very tired from a couple of previous nights night-work, so I didn't see much before turning in around 01:20hrs.

Perhap because light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Skys cleared up agin around 2:20am, (just had a quick look outside before I went to bed) so I went out again. All this rain had left the skies crystal clear. Stayed out till 3am when I decided to call it a night. Skies still clear when I retired. Not a bad night after all!

cleared up for me just before bed at 3.am. Idecided to do a quick watch out the front. 45 minutes later and I had spotted 21 meteors of which about 16-17 were perseids.
Cheers

We'd almost 24 hours of continual rain, with some flooding.
If a 1 km asteroid came in, we wouldn't see it.
I was hoping for a good night tonight, as the day's been sunny with blue sky and broken cloud, but the heavens have opened again.
Still, tomorrow night I'm in Greece, so it might be a bit clearer there.
And warmer.

It was clear on and off between midnight and 4 am in Limerick, there were a good few bright meteors but one in particular that went through mid Hercules and lasted about 1 second was extremely bright and lit up the surroundings and left a trail visible for about 10 seconds, it was the brightest one I've ever seen in any shower, it was around 1.15 am, anyone else see it??
