I estimate cloud cover at 100% but I might be a bit low

Perhap because light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Well the clouds didn't clear again after all and now it's raining... again .......
.. Oh well, at least I got the hour. Hopefully we'll fair better tomorrow night.

Yes its crystal clear but no rain but meteors falling in Buckets, what a great night so far, so many bright fast meteors and a few exceptions, a double set at 0112 under UMa, a V bright -4 (guess) non persied at 0208 and a beautiful fireball that broke in two at 0212 as was driving away high, near Vega at least -6.
Also noticed a faint possible auroral glow. Plenty of greenery in my northern photos, any one else see this, or just Twilight or are we back to astronomical twilight yet??

Got a clear hour just there.
7 meteors in all - pretty happy with that.
No photos though, all were outside the FOV.
This may sound redundant but is there a dew shield for the Canon 350?
It seems to fog up in no time.

Hi Frank.....
You could try using a lens hood..... the unfortunate thing though is that canon can charge what they want for them....... (With my 2 Sigma and 1 Tamron lens, these guys had the decency to include a lens hood with their products).
However, before spending hard earned cash you could try to make your own lenshoods....just use the following link for plans for some of the more popular lenses....

Yet another, interesting DIY project during these cloudy evenings....
Anyway things are looking a bit more positive weatherwise, down here for tonight.....

Thanks a million for that Steve!
There is a super Persied photo up on APOD today by Fred Bruenjes.
It's a composite of 51, 30 second images.
Ohh to have a wide angled lens and a dark clear site tonight!
antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html
"The night of August 11th, 2004 brought a great display of the Perseid meteor shower. This is a composite image, using 59 exposures out of 680 taken during a six hour period. I had my Canon 1D Mark II running with a 17-40mm F4L lens set at 17mm F4, ISO 3200, MWB 3500K, riding piggyback on an 8" LX200. I stacked 9 x 30 second exposures for the background, and then used painted masks in Photoshop to insert the 48 x 30s exposures that had meteors. There are 51 meteors in this image, including one point source (head on) meteor!"
What a camera!
