You know, the cat strapped to the buttered toast would fit my observations perfectly. The cat always tries to land on it's feet, the toast always tries to land butter side down so they would spin in the air as the object I saw.
I'm almost convinced now it's a mylar animal shaped (Hefalump?) balloon. The way they make those with two shaped sheets of mylar welded along the edges, from edge on it would look like a flattened sphere, but the front and back are designed to look like Mickie or whatever.
