Saturn!! was created by Tonybwf
Hi all,
I saw Saturn for the first time the other night through my Meade lxd75 with a 20mm eyepiece...it wadnt much to look at just looked like a star really i had moon pollution and atmospheric conditions to deal which didnt help..as i scrambled to put my 8" Orion on the lxd mount it clouded in  how much detail should i be getting from my 8" with a 5.7 eyepiece looking at saturn?? or are they a different combination i should be using to get the best results?

Hi,
You should be seeing a small globe and near edge on rings and maybe 2 or 3 moons.

Hey Tony,
wait till you have got an ideal conditions night (early on when there's heavy to severe ground frost forecast, and no Moon)... happy days, believe me.

I did some searching for pics of Saturn through an 8" Orion. You have nothing to worry about from what i can tell. Pretty impressive views.
