Like I always say, wanting to do astronomy in Ireland is like been a member of the Jamaican bob slaying team.

I never took such an interest in cloud coverage in my life as i have the last 5-6 weeks.
What we need is technology at an affordable price that allows us to see through cloud. The person who invents that would become very rich overnight.

Ditto for us down here in the southeastern Mediterranean each and every winter.Like I always say, wanting to do astronomy in Ireland is like been a member of the Jamaican bob slaying team.
During the past 3 months I have produced very little work. I swear I must have setup at least 30 times during this period. Just last night I had everything up and running in 0d C weather when the clouds appeared 45 minutes into my session. There goes my fourth try this winter at NGC 1432 (Maia Nebula in Taurus).

I am convinced the weather is worsening year after year. I also have similar recollections.Whatever happened to the cold clear crisp nights of winter that we all grew up with?
Hehehe, this is common once you get into amateur astronomy. One eye is glued to weather reports.I never took such an interest in cloud coverage in my life as i have the last 5-6 weeks.
It already exists .... if you are willing to work in the non-visible portions of the spectrum. What we need is technology at an affordable price that allows us to see through cloud. The person who invents that would become very rich overnight.
There is also the Baader cloud filter that does a pretty good job. I have one for sale.

It allows you to see through clouds?
Thick or thin clouds?
Ireland does not do thin cloud.
