I caught a glimpse of the moon and mars at 1:30am Sat. The deed had been done and they had both rolled over and were snoring. Only used the bins.........
Took me about 20 seconds to catch Mars in a S/SE position to the moon because of the light from the moon and poor seeing conditions.
Oh well.................bring on the lunar eclipse in Feb. I have a month to plan what EP's/filters i am gonna use to capture its best side.

I was on another airplane last night and caught a good view of a really bright star in the region of Mars early in the evening. It twinkled colours ranging from light blue to a vivid green, even thought I saw glances of a red in there. Seemed to have two parts to it, perhaps a double star, a smaller white coloured glow to its west. After careful watching and a short while later i finally figured out what it was. The moral of the story is, not all helicopters are stars.
