Jovian i was up this morning to have a look but i was a bit late (i woke @ 7:50am). I'd assume you can see them both clearly. The APOD of the day yesterday was of both planets in the morning sky.
I'll try again tomorrow.

Paul,
They are both in possibly the worst part of the sky
apart form actually being behind the Sun for telescopic observation.
That low down there is simply too much murky atmosphere to
see any great detail.
They are however very nice on the eye as they are so close
together there light falls into the small area in out eye that is supersensitive
to light and therefore the brain go's 'Hey this is interesting!'
In a few more days they will have pulled apart for this effect to be lost
but they will still be very nice naked eye and even better in Binos.
(be careful sweeping the dawn sky with binos coz one millisecond
of sunlight through them and your eyes will be fried!)
Tomorrow morning, Feb. 4th, Venus, Jupiter and the slender crescent Moon will make a nice triangle in the dawn sky.

Thanks for that Frank. I hadnt planned to use a scope or bins to observe them. Good old eyes were the order of the day.

No worries Paul,
My post was in response to the other Paul.
My post was in response to the other Paul.
is it possible to see Jupiter clearly? Or is it too close to Venus to distinguish any details?

LOL. Too many Pauls around here. Turns out i couldnt see Venus,Jupiter or the moon this morning. I was keeping an eye on their progress from about 5:30am on Stellarium........waiting for them all to appear above the horizon. By the time they had, it was either too light out too see them or they didnt rise high enough from my perspective because of the trees off to my south east.

It was milling rain here.
I was really hoping to see this conjunction.
Oh well.
Does anyone else think that this thread has kinda lost the run of itself?
