Welcome to the REAL world of amateur practical astronomy Paul. An astronomers lot is not an easy one at times, but there is usually compensations to be found in the night sky and new knowledge for you to learn which makes it all worth while, stick with it sir!
I would advise against launching a good telescope over the neighbour’s wall as he/she may not know what to do with it or perhaps appreciate it anyway and your neighbour’s dog might decide to use it as a lamppost as an excellent means of marking his territory and as you can gather the effects on the optics would be detrimental. This is also a decidedly bad way to test the effect s of Newton’s laws of motion on such a good instrument!
Clear skies
Mike

I think you will need to generate a better first post to start a thread than that PJ.

dont be to hard on PJ, Seaie. At least it was concise, no waffle....he could have added blah-de-blah-de-blah
as a real dum dum on most astronomy matters, I found this detailed report refreshingly easy to digest and a joy to read.
well done (more than i saw last night)

Seanie it was tongue in cheek (but it was true). If you wanna delete it to save bandwidth go ahead.
I changed things around.. Now the thread actually has a report as an opener.
