Just saw another cool thing involving Orion. I was going down to the local shop and there was a thin misty cloud covering the lower left hand side of Orion. It was being lit up by the moon..............it's looked like the cloud was glowing in the dark.
I only mention it cuz i've never quite seen anything like it before.
It really looked strange.

They were nearby stars Paul.
You didn't see Phobos and Deimos.

yea, not a hope of seeing the Martian moons in a small refractor, or most scopes for that matter.
