Hey :!:
Shouldn't this topic/thread/posts here be moved to "Observing Reports", instead of "Astro Photography"

PST 40 /8mm TVP eyepiece/50X
Yellow and Red Schmincke pastels on black Cranford paper
Bray, Ireland
Tilting Sun from Les Cowley www.atoptics.co.uk
A lot of cloud today, just got a little gap to capture the filaments on the solar disc. If it clears up a bit more I might catch the proms, if I have the time.
I found thin fast moving grey cloud acted as an extra filter to show up the location and shape of the filaments. The filaments are darker in my sketch than they appear to the eye, just to show them up.
Decided to post here , not start another thread.
There is no sketching forum, observing reports do not usually have images. The astrophotography section seems the best place for sketches.
If I am wrong let me know. Its where I usually put them anyway.

Deirdre, Despet and jeyjey,
What I didn't expect when I was first involved into this conversation and presentation of solar sketches, is to be totally fascinated about what you guys are doing. The Sun is really beautifull and ALIVE.
I think I 'll just go out now and buy some pastels and black paper. No kidding! I 'll find a way to get my hands on a PST, at least for the summer.

Maybe you guys keep posting your work here, and this thread could be renamed to "The Sun Today" or "Solar Sketch Bulettin"
Oh, hi Seanie
How is that to your ears?

Great sequence of sketches there, I noticed a bright active area myself today but tooooooooooo much cloud prevented me from including it in my sketch.
