PST 40/8mmTVP eyepiece/50X upscaled by eye
Soft pastels and graphite on black paper
I am experimenting with different mediums for solar sketches.
Some features on the solar disc are very well defined, and some are
very subtle. I am trying to find a good balance, with color , texture , mediums and methods to reproduce exactly what I see when I look closely.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

That's very photographic Dee, you've managed to capture the h-alpha texture very skillfully.

Thanks Carl and Paul, I hope we get a whole bunch of sunspots soon.
I intend to get some white light sketches done this summer sometime.

Cool sketch, Deirdre. I wanted to tackle that one today, but I couldn't even figure out how to start. I think I need to experiment a bit inside with various materials before I try an active area at the eyepiece.
Again, well done!

Thanks to your heads up there Deirdre, I took out the scope to have a look , with the white light solar filter and Continuum Filter in place.
Sure enough, there was 0999 in the FOV, as you pointed out , good to see something happening on sol. Thanks.
Looking forward to the delivery of the Solarscope to see it in Ha......Sol that is... I am sure 0999 will be gone by the time it arrives
