Heres two links to threads on CN for May 1st captures.
www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat...d/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1
www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat...d/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1
No mention by anyone that these images could be submitted to the cassini team and they are much much better than mine. Who is James335k from CN over here BTW. Location Dublin Ireland?
Methinks Deirdre is just trying to encourage the newbies like me by saying I should submit. My posting of that pic was genuinely a joke and was not comparing it in any way to trevors great capture or work and did not for one minute think my mediocre image will be of any use

Keith.
Well done on catching those storms!
I would not down play the significance of your images.
Any images that show an anomaly like this are useful.
This is one of the ways amateurs can contribute to some meaningful science.
It's always a good idea to 'push the levels' just to see
what is not outrightly visible.
After you do this some number of times and become familiar
with the 'pushed' image, any difference could mean something important.
You should submit the images and explain exactly what time you took them, equipment
and settings you used.
I bet when you started this planetary imaging malarkey that you
wouldn't get half as good images are you are getting now not to
mind 'weather'!
Well done again.

Hi Keith.
My name is James Kelly aka James335k. I've only become actively involved in astronomy in the last year so thats probably why you haven't a clue who i am. I really like your Saturn pic. It shows the storms very well.

After posting I searched on CN for Saturn images on the 1st of May and found that this image also had both storms visible. Then looked to the left and saw the poster was Irish. I figured you in all likelyhood were a member here too.
Your image is much better than mine. Storms are even more pronounced. No comment by yourself nor anyone else in that thread on the storms in the image. No one commented one mine when I orginally posted image here back in May. This is why I thought it was no big deal.
I know its still not a big deal really but it even just to know one had a single image in some Nasa Cassini Saturn Database in some Nasa archive amongst thousands of other uncredited images from thousands of other amatuers would be pretty cool anyway.
Anyway, atm I am re-processing the captures to see if I can pull anymore detail out.

Well I tried re-processing the capture last night and I still don't know what I am doing. I did an RGB split on it and processed them separately. Didn't really see any more detail in the separate RGB elements and then I have no PSP to recombine them anyway.
Looks like I am trying to polish a turd TBH. They simply were not good captures taken under good viewing conditions. Pity I didn't have the webcam earlier in the year to get some practice on and then when it came to that night, started imaging earlier, and maybe I would then have had something more to work with.
Well, if you guys think I should send that mediocre image in anyway, then maybe I will. I can't seem to find a page to submit images to on the cyclops site though. Anyone have a direct link?
