Solar sketches from the last 2 weeks was created by jeyjey
Finally got around to updating my website so I can post these sketches here.

I was experimenting with larger paper and different pencils. These are all done with Derwent GraphiTint pencils on black Artagain paper. The larger scale allows for much more detailed sketches, but they also take longer. Coupled with dodging the clouds, most of these aren't sequences.

Here's one where I did manage a couple of frames. (This is the one Deirdre alerted us all to in her "Christmas Tree" thread, although it quickly morphed into more of a Jules Verne rocket-ship.)

So for the next one, I also saved room on the paper for a second frame. As you can see, it didn't work out so well. ;)

That might have had something to do with the Solarscope SF70 filter arriving on my doorstep around noon. The next day I was able to do a few with the new filter:

I was writing a short review of the SF70 for CloudyNights, so I also did the same prom at the same time through the SolarMax 40 for a comparison:

And, finally, a couple as I get used to the SF70:

The last shows the more abbreviated equipment list I'm trying out as I felt there was getting to be too much text on the sketch.

Cheers,
-- Jeff.

Superb Jeff.

Just one question - did you use the SolarMax 40 to sketch the "rest of the day" image?

Jeff,

Thats an impressive set of sketches. The details within the Proms is very good.

Well done!

Thanks Dee, Michael, Dave and Eamonn!

No, Dave, the "rest-of-day" sketch was done through one of my unit-power "window pane" scopes. I've got a bunch of them around here.

Cheers,
-- Jeff.
