I use the Canon LiDE 60, which works quite well. That being said, my wife bought it and I'm not sure exactly what criteria she selected it on.

If you want to give me a PM, you can pop down to me and I will scan it for you. Sometimes I take digital images of my sketches , it depends on the sketch, some are too big for the scanner and some just suit photographs.

So perhaps you could take a photograph and post that until you get a scanner??

Picked up a scanner, now to see how if I can work the thing. :D

Well done , it looks good, very careful star placements.

Perhaps there are some adjustment features on your scanner ? Or you can bring it into Photoshop and use the Adjustment /Levels tool to darken it.
Or you can invert it to pop the white stars and the Ring out of black.

More sketches from you would be good , if the sky ever clears up.
