Summer Triangle Widefield was created by paulevans
Still some thin high cloud around as evidenced by the orange glow, but here's a wide shot of the Triangle - the Coathanger is particularly prominent.

Sony A700 16-105mm at 16mm f3.5 - 8 x 30secs ISO 3200 RAW mode stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, processed in PSE5.

Got a bit over an hour of clear sky with just the odd bit of cloud passing over before it thickened up. Didn't look at anything specific - it was just wondeful to see the stars again - it's been a long time!

A lovely shot Paul.

One of my favourite fields in the sky, in particular Delphinus and Vulpecula.

Nice shot Paul, also one of my favourite parts of the sky. Great to see it again! How do you find the Sony for taking shots like this? I notice that there is a bit of trailing near the edge of the shot in the stars.

Thanks guys, it's great to have the opportunity to get back into the swing of things!

Seanie, I am very pleased indeed with the Sony A700. Apart from 12m pixels it has low noise - almost non-existent up to ISO 1600, OK at 3200 and will go to 6400 but you wouldn't want to print too large from those! It's not a lightweight camera like many these days - in fact it's something of a brick! In normal use it has excellent handling and does much more than I routinely need. The 16-105mm lens is excellent too - very sharp in all situations. The exposure above was made up of 30 sec subs and that is probably just a bit too much from a static mount, but also the corners show a bit of coma which is a consequence of using the lens wide open - one stop down would cure that.

Clear skies,
